More Fillers... =/

Mega-post under construction. ETA end of this week..
In the meanwhile, some stuff to occupy you during the Sept hols:

1) Birthdays!!!

Happy Birthday Moneyseeker and Twit!!!
Haha you probably know both of 'em quite well.. Pretty famous in these parts =p (for the right or wrong reasons, it's hard to tell...) But anyway they're both great 'tards so what does it matter? XD

2) Movies

Loads of great stuff I've missed due to the stupid hectic JC schedule =( Haven't watched Iron Man 2, Ip Man 2, Alice In Wonderland, Despicable Me, Inception, SALT, Kickass, The Sorceror's Apprentice, Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, blah blah blah.... T_T

But for those I DID watch?

The Expendables - Hmm. Pretty mixed reviews.. Although its main cast is nearly entirely made up of kickass actors, some people criticize the plot, saying it's quite cliched and that some of the actors don't live up to their names... Particularly Arnold I'll-Be-Back Schwarz-whatever... He made a cameo in which he just walked around and talked (still, it's only a cameo =/ wonder why people are so worked up about it. not like he's the main actor).. But what's there not to like???
We're retards, right? Simple stuff makes us happy xD so...lots of BOOM!!! EPIC WIN!!!
But honestly, the action scenes are awesome shit. Definitely worth watching..

She's Out Of My League - pretty suprising, this one. Not too bad.. Typical romance comedy. Watched it on a class outing, expected it to be boring but it was actually quite worth it. Some really funny moments..ohh and the main characted JIZZED IN HIS PAAAANTS!!! XD hahaha and no, not because of a breeze rollin' in. Lonely Island ftw =p

Mr Bones 2 - You probably have never heard of this one. It's a South African production if I'm not mistaken.. (don't worry, it's in English) The plot revolves around these two dudes from a tribe who somehow get transported to modern times.. and how they need to return a stolen gemstone to remove a curse on their king. Simple? No. Hilarious? Hell yeah!! I mean, put two retards near strange machinery... It's like - Ooh. What does this button do??? xD

3) Games

Haven't had the time to play much. Although I've started to like the Command and Conquer series a lot nowadays, and not just because of Red Alert 2 (sigh. Good times...) Rather, I'm referring to Generals and Tiberium Wars. The multiplayer gameplay somehow doesn't get old, even though I've played it quite a lot.. and that says something.

Besides, what else do you need?? HALO REACH!! IS COMING!!! XDDDD and guess what... my 360 has got the red ring of death =( nice timing eh? (although it was in June, you get the idea) I got to play the Beta like I said and from what I've heard of the real deal... Use your imagination.

4) Music

Disturbed has released a new album - Asylum. The general impression is typical Disturbed.. but way, way darker. The title track says it all - go watch the music vid on Youtube. It's freaky, to say the least. And leaves this lasting impression on your mind... It's about an asylum inmate who can't stand the torture by the staff and keeps on trying to escape and end his suffering.. the bleak atmosphere of the vid blends in completely with the moody guitar riffs.. and the ending is screwed up. Like A Little Piece of Heaven but for this, I can't find anything to laugh at.. Overall as an album it comes through really well.. In general the lyrics are quite deep and do have an intended meaning that comes across quite strongly. There's a song about global warming and environmental destruction, there's a song about the Holocaust.. and the singer's soaring vocals does them justice. The guitarwork is much better than before as well.. Check out The Animal, Sacrifice and Another Way To Die.

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" is coming as well. Since the death of the Rev (still quite sad.. he's one of the most talented drummers and singers that I've heard so far), I thought they might disband. Well, looks like they recorded material with him prior to that and they released it with Dream Theater's drummer Mike Portnoy filling in.. I've only heard the title track as well but believe me, it looks set to be awesome as well. Comes in with an awesome riff, Shadows is still good as always and the bridge, reminiscent of Critical Acclaim, has the same powerful rhythm with Shadows' shouting creating this amazing effect.. You gotta hear it. Period.

As for Linkin Park, "A Thousand Suns" was supposed to be a ground-breaking album. I've heard part of their first single, The Catalyst.. and believe me, it's surprising, to say the least. Now you probably noticed they've altered their musical style quite a lot over their career, from Nu-Metal with elements of Rapcore in Hybrid Theory to more of a hard rock sound in Meteora, they've mixed in hip-hop with Jay-Z in Collision Course, and they've done alternative, and even pop in Minutes To Midnight, which happens to have a wide range of influences... But The Catalyst.. sounds like..TECHNO!!!! WTF???

Yep. It sounds like techno. Like those melodies from Axel F - Crazy Frog and the like.. The sounds you hear from a typical disco in JB.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No I'm not. And it turns out to be quite catchy... there's the usual ranting from fans everywhere but I'm interested to see how the whole album turns out.. I'll hold my comments..for now...

So go forth and enjoy =D
